Makeup Monday!

I'm not holding myself to this being a weekly (or even monthly thing), and while I don't consider myself a makeup guru, I do enjoy playing with it and trying new products! I am a Younique presenter, BUT not all the items I will share will be Younique! Of course I love our products (and to date I have tried EVERY product we sell), but there are other items I love as well, so I will try to add balance to my post!

I had HORRIBLE skin growing up, so I was sort of forced (by myself) to at least learn to cover my blemishes. It wasn't until I started using Proactiv in college that things significantly changed for me. I'm still not entirely sure if it was due to the actual product or my age. But either way, things got better.

But I still enjoyed a fairly full coverage foundation, a good mascara, and great concealer.

One of the things I love is following people who are in the beauty industry and seeing their favorite products. It's like peeking into their bathroom and seeing a roundup of their products (and hearing about their routine). I love trying something I've never tried before or applying a product differently.

I rounded up a few of my favorites. I am going to gush about why I like each item and I'll provide a link for each product. Remember, links may be affiliate links. Read my disclosures here.

1. Burt's Bees Makeup Remover Wipes: I love makeup remover wipes! I actually look forward to washing my face at night. I went YEARS without removing my makeup at night (yuck!), and for the past year I have been diligent about adding this into my nightly routine and it has made a huge difference. I have used MANY brands (Simple, Alba, Younique, Yes) and Burt's Bees is my favorite for removing face makeup. I will say that NOTHING comes close to Younique's Shine Cloths for removing eye makeup. It's holy amazing. I have a pack of Shine Cloths on hand if anyone is interested.

2. Eye Primer: We have all heard that makeup is only as good as the moisturizer and primer you use. SO.TRUE. I was having MAJOR issues with my eyeliner and eyeshadow smearing. I have extremely oily eyelids (so weird), and my liner would end up on the skin above my lids. Even smudge proof, water resistant liners. Younique's eye primer was a game changer for me. It is opaque, and adds just enough grit to hold my liner and shadow. It also keeps shadows crease free all day.
3. Eye Liner: I have as a whole preferred soft eye pencils (kohl liners) over liquid liners most recently because I have fallen in absolute love with our dark brown shade, Proper. If you are scared to do eye liner I HIGHLY suggest you pop over to Kate's blog at The Small Things Blog. I linked an AWESOME tutorial on how to apply eye liner. It's life changing, really. Also Younique recently released FIVE colors (including my favorite) of liquid eyeliner, so I am dying to get my hands on it. I have the black and love love love our liquid liner, but just prefer the brown on me.

4. Face Moisturizer: Now let me start by saying that I HANDS DOWN love Younique's Divine Moisturizer. I JUST ran out of my last tube and haven't had a second to reorder, but I have been completely blown away by Simple's face moisturizer. I am pretty fuss free when it comes to face moisturizers. I need them to be moisturizing, but I don't want grease. Moisturizers and primer are the base of your makeup, so it's CRITICAL to use for great foundation coverage!

5. Pixi Lip Balm: The first time I got this in my Birchbox I was a little intimidated by the color, but I tried it. I LOVE this product. The color is bright, but it's perfect for getting my lips back after applying concealer/foundation! I NEVER use through a tube of lip balm and I blew through this baby and reordered! That shows how much I love it!

By the way, if you haven't heard of Birchbox you are MISSING OUT, big time. It's a monthly subscription box that sends you 5 samples a month (sometimes the sample are FULL size!). For each sample you receive you can write a review for the product. Each review equals 10 points and every 10 points gives you $1 to shop in the Birchbox store. That means that you pay $10 for the box, and can earn $5 back in each box if you honestly review each product! The points add up quickly and it's easy to turn the points around to purchase your favorite items. If you decide to sign up, use my link!
6. Eye Shadow Palette: Before Younique released their eye shadow palette's I was majorly eyeing the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. My palette came in one of our collections that I purchased September, so I snagged the #1. I love palette #1 because it has all the neutral and earth tones that work well with my skin coloring. I am a no fuss eyeshadow person and just want something that I love. I could wear the same color everyday and be ok. All that said, my Younique palette has lasted over SIX months with nearly everyday use! Isn't that amazing? I have a #3 palette on hand if anyone is interested!

7. Color Enhancing Lip Balm: This stuff ABSOLUTELY blows my mind! It does exactly what it says. It enhances the natural color of your lips. It adjusts to YOUR unique PH level and creates a custom shade PERFECT for you! Isn't that crazy? I love the shade mine turns and I will be reordering this!

8. Lipgloss: Our lucrative lipgloss is so smooth and non sticky! That's the thing that steers me away from gloss and toward balms because of the stickiness. This shade (Lovesick) came in my presenter kit and the melon color totally threw me off. I thought "well I'll never wear that!" Until I actually tried it! Holy amazingness! It's like a sheer, with a HINT of color. I keep the Boost Lip balm in my car (#7), so I keep this gloss in my bathroom and put on after applying my makeup! Also I have a sample of this on hand! Let me know if you'd like it!

9. Bye Bye Undereye: This concealer is far supreme to any concealer I have ever tried! I read about it on Kate's blog (mentioned earlier), and knew I had to try it. After having a baby who didn't sleep through the night for 2 years, and who still wakes up on average once a night, 2-3 times a week, I needed some serious undereye help! This product is not "natural" and contains some ingredients I wouldn't typically use, but I only use it for special occasions or when I really need major help. It is AMAZING. Much too thick to use on blemishes, but I was amazed at how thick and smooth it went on and how well it covered and STAYED. It lasts ALL DAY. Of course for everyday wear I love our skin perfecting concealer in scarlet.

10. & 11. Liquid gold and the Puff Brush: I am putting these together because I won't use one without the other! I fell HARD when we introduced the Touch Liquid Foundation in September. It goes on as a liquid and dries in a matte finish. I consider it a full coverage foundation (when paired with concealer before). Just search youtube for tutorials to see before and afters. It's amazing. We literally broke the internet with this product. It's been SO popular that Younique isn't able to keep it in stock! It is currently only available in collections. My winter shade is Organza and summer shade is Taffeta. I use FOUR drops a day and STILL have makeup on my face when I wash it off after 15 hours of wear. It's unreal. They also just released (last week) a foundation brush specially made for this product. The puff brush wasn't originally intended for this product, but I love it! I can't wait to get my hands on the new brush!

12. Mineral Concealer: This product is intended to be used with a brush to cover blemishes/red spots, which it does an AMAZING job. But I actually love using this as a finishing powder! It seems to blur and seal everything in. We used to not have a liquid concealer, so I had to use this as my concealer. But I much prefer it as a finishing powder now!

I hope this was a fun peek into items I use regularly and LOVE! I'd like to make "Makeup Monday" a more regular thing, so we will see what feels right! Let me know if you have any questions!

This Year So Far...

YOU GUYS. I already feel behind on goals, and life, and everything else. CanIgetanamen?

My goal was to update at the end of January with how I am doing on my my goals. I figured if I put it out on the internet, it would keep me more accountable. Unless I just forget to update, and then, well #failure. So now it's March.

1. Lose Weight. I'm happy to report that I am 7lbs lighter than when I clicked publish on January 1st. I lost 3lbs pretty quickly, and then started Plexus at the end of January. Josh and I have both been really impressed with these products (he is doing it with me). I am not selling, so I am "just a customer", and it along with "barely" watching what I am eating/upping my water intake has taken off the other 4. I have also tried to cut eating out SIGNIFICANTLY. I would LOVE to be down 10lbs at the end of March.

2. Ugh. I could do SUCH a better job at taking care of myself. I have taken ONE bubble bath. #stoptakingcareofeveryoneelse

3. We have cleared out ALOT (and I just took a load to consignment Sunday), but I'll be honest, I haven't been keeping up with this line by line ($100 a month). If I could estimate we probably sold $75 worth of junk in January and maybe $100 in February. It's been an even split between Facebook yard sales, Facebook pages, and Ebay.

4. I have done a pretty great job at reading, but the first book I chose was OVER FOUR HUNDRED PAGES. Which I LOVED the book (Fifteen Minutes by Karen Kingsbury), but I would have totally killed this goal (in a good way) if it was a 200pg. book. This was a fun, didn't have to think too hard, Novel. I'm now 3 chapters from finishing my February book (Eat that Frog!, Brian Tracy).  This book is PERFECT for procrastinators like me. I have learned so much. When I started reading it, my plan was to keep it in pretty good shape to resell on eBay. WELLLLL it's underlined and highlighted and pages are turned down. It's one I'll go back to many times! I haven't decided on my next book (. There are SO MANY I want to read.

5. Be Brave. So, while I thought this would be the "unmeasurable" goal, I actually have found myself coming back to this frequently. I have faced two situations (both totally unrelated) this year.

First was with my little shop. I finally worked up the nerve to purchase my dream machine! It's a 6 needle BEAST and I am in absolute love. This was a huge step of courage since I was knee deep in orders and had to learn a brand new machine/figure out what the heck I was doing and still keep up my turnaround time/business. It helped that the brand was the same as my other 2 machines, but it was still a huge step since it costs the same as a small car. HUGE investment for this little business!

Next, I stepped down as the Elementary Director at our church. This was so.hard. It's hard to admit that something no longer is working, but the stress level (mostly that I put on myself) was through the roof. I hit a wall, and couldn't recover. And while I have been praying about this decision for weeks, God is still so faithful in providing in ways I couldn't even see. Part of the reason I struggled SO BAD was "losing" the awesome connection I have with so many at our church. Working there is SO uplifting and I was fearful of losing that. When I stepped down, I had NO idea that God would have other plans. Which included me staying on staff!

I have taken on the Communication Director role for LifeBridge, effective 3 weeks ago. See the crazy thing is that God knows what we need just when we need it, before we're even able to ask. It's hard to admit that work is too hard, or that things are overwhelming. But I feel like He knew exactly what I needed, and I am so thankful! I'm excited about this new role!

Phew! So while I haven't felt all that productive this year, it's been a great start!
